CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 19, 2011 – Guitarist Patrick Rafferty will be featured as part of the Guest Artist and Faculty Recitals Series at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
The performance will feature works for solo guitar by Dionisio Aguado, Astor Piazzolla, Johann Sebastian Bach and others, and will feature an exciting set of arrangements for oboe and guitar with Laura Ross on oboe.
In May 2011, Rafferty was awarded a top prize in the St. Louis Artist Presentation Society’s annual auditions, becoming only the third guitarist in its 64-year history to receive such distinction. In 2008, Rafferty was voted the top graduate performer by his peers at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. He has performed in the Alexandria Guitar Fest and Mid-America Guitar Festival and has given concerts across the eastern seaboard and throughout the Midwest.
