CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
Feb. 26, 2009 – The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Recreation Services is proud to announce that Kumi Yokozeki and Nicholas Holder were named Co-Employees of the Month for the department for January.
Yokozeki, a senior from Iruma-gun, Japan, and Holder, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., were honored for services to the department during a month that involved the start of a new semester and a major disruption with a winter storm.
The Employee of the Month award is given to student employees working with the Department of Recreation Services at Southeast. The award recognizes outstanding achievement with student employees and their ability to go beyond normal duties.
Yokozeki was instrumental in keeping the Student Recreation Center-North open and operational during the winter storm that hit the area Jan. 26-30. Her dedication to keeping the facility opened and making it to work that week was valuable for the department and beneficial to the campus community, said Troy Vaughn, director of Recreation Services. Yokozeki, a sport management major, is hoping to stay involved in recreation and one day looks to be employed in the professional sports industry.
Holder, an exercise science major, has been key to the fitness and wellness areas within the department in recent months. He was beneficial in assisting with projects within the department and hopes to one day own and operate his own recreation complex.
Each honored employee received a complimentary Recreation Services duffle bag for their excellent service to the department and to Southeast.
