Recital Features Four Southeast Faculty Members


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 21, 2011ᾰAlthough it will be a few weeks after Valentine’s Day, four members of the Southeast Missouri State University faculty will serenade the audience with songs about love and more in the Voice Faculty Recital on March 6.

The recital, at 3 p.m. in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at the River Campus, features Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes which translate to love songs in English. 

In addition to performing Brahms’ composition, Christopher Goeke, tenor, Leslie Jones, contralto, Timothy Schmidt, bass, and Lori Shaffer, soprano, will each sing two or three songs by other well-known composers including Johann Strauss, Hugo Wolf, Joseph Marx and Franz Schubert.
