Oct. 9, 2006 – A new “Cycle-Fit’ exercise class is being offered by Recreation Services at Southeast Missouri State University.
“Recreation Services recently purchased 15 new indoor cycling bikes for programming,” said Takeshi Fujii, assistant director of Recreation Services. “Starting this month, we are going to put them to great use.”
Cycle Fit is an indoor cycling fitness class in which an instructor guides participants through imaginative terrains with invigorating music and visualization for 40 to 45 minutes. Participants will increase their strength and improve their overall fitness, no matter what their fitness level may be. Classes begin Oct. 24 and run through Dec. 9.
Participants may enroll in the Cycle Fit Series Option or the Cycle Fit Group Fitness Option. The Series Option is for those who want a guaranteed spot in the class at the same time and on the same day of the week. The Group Fitness Option is for those who want to ride within the structure of the Group Fitness Schedule. These classes are for those members who already have or can purchase a group fitness pass in Recreation Services.
Three sessions are being offered in the Series Option. Session A will be offered at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. Session B will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. Session C will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
Fees for Session A and C are $20 for Student Recreation Center members and $35 for non-Student Recreation Center members. Fees for Session B are $35 for Student Recreation Center members and $50 for non-Student Recreation Center members.
The Group Fitness Option will be offered from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. on Tuesdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. on Thursdays, 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. on Thursdays, and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Fridays.
Group Fitness Passes are $2 for one visit, $5 for four visits, $10 for 10 visits or $15 for an unlimited eight-week pass.
Those who are interested but not quite sure whether they want to enroll may try Cycle Fit for free from Monday, Oct. 16, to Saturday, Oct. 21. This will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants are urged to come early because the number of bikes is limited. Sign-ups will be in front of the Group Fitness Studio. Participants also are encouraged to bring a towel and water bottle.
