CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
July 8, 2008 – The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents today appointed Frank Stokes of St. Clair, Mo., to the Missouri Research Corporation (MRC) Board.
Stokes was appointed to a one-year term at the formation of the MRC in December 2003 and a three-year term in December 2004. In accordance with the amended bylaws, he is eligible to serve one more successive three-year term.
There has been recent improvement in financial support for research and technology in Missouri, and many of the decisions regarding that support are made by the Missouri Technology Corporation (MTC), said Dennis Roedemeier, chief executive officer of the MRS. Stokes’ current membership on the MTC Board will allow the MRC and Southeast Missouri State University to have a voice at the state level and establish the agenda for future funding activities, Roedemeier said.
The MRC operates under the auspices of Southeast Missouri State University. The MRC established the Southeast Innovation Center to develop, grow and retain new businesses that will increase the number and quality of jobs in the region.
