The 12th River Campus season will, again, offer a spectacular breadth of performing arts events by professional touring companies as well as Southeast’s departments of music and art, The Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance, and the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum.
Season tickets and individual ticket sales for next year’s season are now on sale to the public.
Highlights of the upcoming season, subject to change, include “Turn it UP! The New Sound of New Orleans,” “Evita,” and “RENT” in the Bank of Missouri Touring Series; “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Sister Act,” and “Othello” in the Rhodes 101 Stops and Commerce Bank Conservatory of Theatre and Dance Series; and Handel’s celebrated masterpiece, “Messiah,” and Verdi’s world renowned, “Requiem” performed as part of the Cuba Financial Southeast Missouri Symphony Series.
“It’s going to be an amazing year,” said Bob Cerchio, assistant director of the Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts. “From New Orleans to New York, these national touring shows, by major East Coast producers, will bring exciting entertainment to Cape.”
Back by popular demand is Moscow Ballet’s “The Great Russian Nutcracker,” one of the most beloved full-length ballets of all time that brings the holiday spirit to life for all ages. Other special events to captivate audiences include a performance by country music legend Gene Watson, and the Paper Doll Militia in “Warped,” an aerial theatre experience embracing the mysteries of time.
Additionally, this season will offer concerts throughout the year featuring the talents of Southeast’s finest student-musicians, faculty and esteemed faculty guest musicians; an “Arte Cubano” display and documentary film screening, panel discussion and concert in the Crisp Museum; and many student exhibitions in the River Campus Art Gallery.
Returning again to the 2018-2019 season will be “Art Cuisine” evenings in which patrons can purchase dinner before select performances at the River Campus’ St. Vincent Commons dining facility located in the Kenneth and Jeanine Dobbins River Campus Center. Reservations are required by contacting Chartwells Dining Services at (573) 651-2511. Complete information, registration and menu information will be mailed directly to all ticket patrons.
