CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 24, 2010 — The River Campus Art Gallery at Southeast Missouri State University will host an exhibit spotlighting the artwork of Southeast Missouri State University’s talented student artists beginning March 31.
This collection of diverse pieces will be on display through April 23, with a Gallery reception on Wednesday March 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. and an awards ceremony in the Gallery at 5:30 p.m. The Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition is a Department of Art tradition greatly anticipated by students, faculty and the campus community. The student exhibition is an opportunity for gifted students to receive distinction for artistic merit by a qualified, respected professional in the arts. This year’s juror is sculptor Glenn Williams, who holds both bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. He earned a master of fine arts degree from the University of Wisconsin. Williams has an extensive exhibition record and currently is professor and director of the Sculpture and Three Dimensional Design programs at Northwest Missouri State University. Works selected from the many wonderful submissions include painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, fiber art, digital art, color composition, printmaking and design. The pieces chosen for inclusion and recognition showcase the creativity, dedication and innovation of Southeast’s talented emerging artists, and many will be available for sale and purchase awards. The public is invited to view and experience this accomplished collection of work. The River Campus Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building, Room 106. Normal Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1-7 p.m. on first Fridays. All Gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public.
