River Campus Art Gallery to Host ‘Mid America Print Council Members Exhibit’


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 3 , 2011 — The River Campus Art Gallery at Southeast Missouri State University will host the “Mid America Print Council Members Exhibit” Jan. 18-Feb. 18.  A gallery reception is planned for 5-7 p.m. Feb. 4. 

A Jurors’ Lecture about this body of work will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 26 in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center at the River Campus.

The Mid America Print Council (MAPC) is an educational organization whose goal it is to promote awareness and appreciation of the art of making original prints, books, hand-made paper and drawings.  They are a resource to educational and non-profit organizations, universities, and the public at large, providing for the exchange of technical and critical information on the art of printmaking.  As part of this mission, MAPC secures at least two juried member exhibitions per year.  This year, Southeast Missouri State University will host the first members’ exhibition for 2011 in the River Campus Art Gallery, juried by two Southeast faculty members, Emily Booth and Kristin Powers Nowlin.

The River Campus Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Seminary Building, Room 106.  Normal gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1-7 p.m. on First Fridays.
