Jan. 26, 2009 – The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music will present the Roadkill Clarinet Quintet “Oldies but Goodies” concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall in the Seminary Building on Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
The program will include the “Overture” from the “Marriage of Figaro” by Wolfgang A. Mozart, “Variations on a Theme” of Paganini by Kenneth A. Wilson and selections from “West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein & Stephen Sondheim.
The Roadkill Clarinet Quintet consists of senior players who have taught and played professionally. Members of the Roadkill Clarinet Quintet are Russell Coleman, Jim Gai, Steve Litwiller, John Patterson and Mark Smith.
Michael Dean, professor of clarinet and saxophone at Southeast, will introduce the Quintet and also will be performing a work for solo clarinet on the concert.
“I am excited to have the Roadkill Quintet here at Southeast,” Dean said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
