In March, faculty and staff were notified that Saint Francis Medical Center and UnitedHealthcare had not reached an agreement, which resulted in Saint Francis Medical Center and its rural clinics becoming out-of-network providers effective March 5.
To date, an agreement has not been made. The current contract for Saint Francis participating providers will expire June 30. Effective July 1, Saint Francis participating providers (physicians) will be out of network. This means that any billed charges that are submitted to the University’s employee health insurance plan for Saint Francis Medical Center, Saint Francis rural clinic and any Saint Francis participating provider will be processed and applied to the out-of-network Tier 3 benefit level.
UMR members in active treatment with a Saint Francis Medical participating provider may be able to continue receiving covered services even after the contract expires. UMR members should call the number on the back of their health plan ID card to see whether they qualify for continuity of care. Human Resources is available to assist employees with the UMR continuity of care application process.
