SEMO Rising Survivor Speak Out, Dance Moved to Academic Terraces

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Southeast faculty, staff and students are invited to attend SEMO Rising at 7 p.m. April 12 on Academic Terraces.

A Survivor Speak Out will allow survivors to speak (or sing or dance, etc.) their experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Supporters are also welcome during the open mic to voice support and promote awareness (speakers have a five-minute time limit, and no organization promotion is allowed).

The event will include a group dance and music by student supporters.

The evening will conclude with a candlelight vigil.

This event is sponsored by Campus Violence Prevention, Counseling and Disability Services and Redhawks Rising to raise awareness and increase support for survivors. To find out how an organization can participate, contact Donna St. Sauver at or (573) 986-6899.
