CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April15, 2005ᾰMusic will fill the air on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University when five area bands perform at “Rose Jam” on Saturday, April 23, beginning at 2 p.m.
“Rose Jam,” an open-air concert presented by the Delta Epsilon chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) international music fraternity, is meant to promote the sharing of music within the campus and the community, said Lis Mainord, the coordinating event manager for “Rose Jam.”
“SAI centers around the education and promotion of music, and we wanted to do something that reflected this idea,” Mainord said.
The concert will feature five different kinds of rock bands, all associated with Cape Girardeau or Southeast in some way.
“‘Roadside Memory,’ ‘Tone Def All-Stars,’ ‘Happy Jacket,’ ‘Moodminder’ and ‘Dissonance’ will all perform,” Mainord said. “There will also be food available, free items given away and an appearance by Rowdy the Redhawk.”
This community-wide event will take place on the band field between Brandt Hall of Music and the Towers residence hall complex on the Southeast campus. The event is free and open to the public.
