Members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni Association made gifts of over $10,000 to establish the award. Their gifts will be matched with an additional $10,000 through a University matching gift program.
The matching gift program is part of the Honoring Tradition – Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. This program allowed donors to make a minimum commitment of $5,000 to a maximum commitment of $10,000 through donation or pledge by March 1, 2014, that qualified for a $1-for-$1 match. The goal of the Campaign is to raise $40 million for student scholarships, academic programs and renovations that benefit students both today and tomorrow.
First preference for the scholarship will be given to a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University who is a member of the Missouri Zeta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity who has completed at least 30 credit hours with a minimum 2.75 cumulative grade point average. The recipient must have held at least one elected or appointed chapter office. The Alumni Board in consultation with the Chapter Executive Committee will nominate at least three candidates for consideration.
The University Scholarship Committee in conjunction with the Greek Life director will select the recipient.
The Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni Association Scholarship fund is endowed by donations from alumni members of the Missouri Zeta Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Southeast Missouri State University. The scholarship is meant to support an undergraduate chapter member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Southeast. The scholarship is intended to provide financial support to an undergraduate recipient recognized for his academic achievements and dedication to the local chapter. It is expected the recipient will be a Sigma Phi Epsilon member who lives the fraternity’s ritual and represents the cardinal principles of virtue, diligence and brotherly love.
