SIKESTON, Mo., Aug. 2, 2010 – Southeast Missouri State University-Sikeston is hosting several “Back to School” events over the next two weeks to kick off the fall 2010 semester.
The campus will host Southeast at Your Service, an orientation for regional campus students, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9. Students who attend will learn more about the University Studies Program, Student Financial Services, Kent Library resources available for regional campus students and student development resources. The orientation will originate from Sikeston, Mo., and will be broadcast via interactive television to Southeast’s regional campuses in Malden, Kennett, Poplar Bluff and Perryville, Mo., as well.
College Success Seminars, offered through Southeast’s Learning Assistance Program, will be held Aug. 10. The workshops are designed to assist students with building academic skills. Topics to be covered include: Southeast computing skills, time management, note-taking, reading skills, study skills, writing skills and learning styles.
Information presented will be the same at both sessions, so students only need to attend one session. Students interested in attending should contact Southeast’s Sikeston campus office at (573) 472-3210 or Sikeston@semo.edu so enough materials are prepared. Both events are free and open to any Southeast student, and attendance is specifically encouraged for any new students.

Textbook checkout will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday,
Aug. 16. Students enrolled in courses at Southeast Missouri State University–Sikeston will be able to check out books from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Aug. 16-19, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 20.
