The four week course, called Operation JumpStart (OJS), is a nationally-recognized, highly- successful training model designed for individuals who are considering starting or expanding a small business. The OJS program teaches participants essential business planning and preparation skills like product pricing, legal structure, competition, marketing, and cash flow management with the goal of developing a feasibility plan to start or expand a business. In addition, course participants will receive one-on-one business counseling with a professional business development consultant from the Small Business and Technology Development Center.

Operation JumpStart will be offered beginning Sept. 17 and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6–9 p.m. The entrepreneurial program has been instrumental in assisting more than 650 individuals who have started or expanded over 250 small businesses in Southeast Missouri and elsewhere. “The materials provided through this program have given me a Jumpstart. I’m now more driven and dedicated than ever before. I believe the sky truly is the limit to the growth of my business” said Marquis Adams owner of Impact Sports and KO Boxing in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

The OJS program, offered at no charge to entrepreneurs in surrounding communities, is made possible with funding from the CIE, the Delta Regional Authority, the United States Department of Agriculture, the Missouri Small Business Technology Development Center and the US Small Business Administration.
