Sneak Preview of ‘Full Tilt 2004’ to Be Performed during Common Hour

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University will offer a segment of their upcoming dance concert “Full Tilt 2004” free to the public on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 12:30 p.m. in the Forrest H. Rose Theatre.

The original piece is titled “Anticipatory Illumination” and was choreographed and will be performed by former faculty member, Josephine A. Zmolek. The guest artist says that she was “inspired by Ernst Bloch’s essays on Utopian aesthetics and the mandala architecture of the Buddhist Javanese temple, Borobodur.”

Patricia Reagan, chair of the Department of Art, has designed the set of 10-foot silk lanterns that light “the path”. The original score, composed by Robert Fruehwald of the Department of Music, is inspired by the Southeast Asian gamelan orchestra.

This free performance is sponsored by the student group, DanceXpressions, and Student Government. For more information, please call the Performing Arts Box Office at (573) 651-2265.
