Southeast Agriculture Students Receive Department Honors


Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Agriculture recently recognized 19 students with outstanding achievement awards for the 2017-2018 academic year during an honors banquet.

The students were recognized for their academic excellence, participation in student organizations and off-campus service.

“Each student exemplifies excellence and positively represents themselves and the Department of Agriculture,” said Samantha Lowman, instructor in Southeast’s Department of Agriculture. “We are truly proud of them for their many accomplishments.”

This year’s honorees are as follows:

Outstanding Freshman: Payton Ruddy of Shelbyville, Missouri

Outstanding Horticulture Student: Tyler Wood of Columbia, Illinois

Outstanding Animal Science Students: Lindsey Wendler of St. Louis, Missouri, and Amanda Carpenter of Shelbina, Missouri

Outstanding Plant and Soil Science Students: Reid Millburg of Glenarm, Illinois, and Ben Tremain of Bridgeton, Missouri

Outstanding Agriculture Industry Students: Marty Aide of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Tyler Meyer of Washington, Missouri

Outstanding Pre-Veterinary Medicine Students: Ben Rado of Arnold, Missouri, Emily Flores of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, and Mackenzie Beck of Auburn, Illinois

Outstanding Agriculture Education Student: Lauren Gifford of Licking, Missouri

Outstanding Student – Kennett Regional Campus: Rachael Lesslie of Kennett, Missouri

Outstanding Student – Sikeston Regional Campus: Katie Curry of Sikeston, Missouri, and Drew Palmer of New Madrid, Missouri

Outstanding Student – Malden Regional Campus: Kim Marlow of Gideon, Missouri, and Cameron Clark of Holcomb, Missouri

Overall Outstanding Department Student: Shelbey Walker of Albion, Illinois; and Jill Thompson of Festus, Missouri
