Southeast Missouri State University has announced the winners in the 2019 National History Day in Missouri Region 9 contest held March 19 at Southeast.

The theme for History Day 2019 was “Triumph and Tragedy in History” and more than 500 students from across southeast Missouri competed in the regional contest which featured projects ranging from topics in local, regional, state, national and international history. Participating students conducted research and presented their historical interpretations in a variety of formats, including exhibits, documentaries, websites, performances and papers.
The students competed for the chance to advance to the state National History Day competition at the University of Missouri-Columbia April 27. Tuesday’s contest was held in the University Center and Academic Hall on the Southeast campus. The State Historical Society of Missouri in partnership with the Missouri Humanities Council, administers National History Day in Missouri.
