CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri, March 14, 2015 – Southeast Missouri State University announces the winners in the National History Day in Missouri Region 9 contest held March 13 at Southeast Missouri State University.
Students from Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Dunklin, Iron, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Stoddard, Washington, and Wayne counties participated, competing for the chance to advance to the state National History Day competition at the University of Missouri April 25.
Friday’s contest featured 333 entries from 18 schools and was held in the University Center, Carnahan Hall and Academic Hall Auditorium on the Southeast campus. The theme for History Day 2013 was “Leadership and Legacy in History,” and students competed in junior high and senior high divisions, which each included five categories: exhibit, historical paper, performance, website and documentary.
