CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
Aug. 31, 2009 – The Southeast Baroque Ensemble, a faculty group from Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Music, will present a concert during the Faculty Recital Series at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at the University’s River Campus.
The Southeast Baroque Ensemble members are dedicated to the performance of chamber music from the Baroque period, played on musical instruments from that era. The concert will include works by LeClair, J.S. Bach, Uccellini, Handel and Telemann.
The group has appeared in numerous concert series, including performances at the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis and the “Music on Market Fine Arts Series” in Wilmington, N.C. Members include Paul Thompson, baroque flute; Brandon Christensen, baroque violin; Sara Edgerton, baroque cello; Jeffrey Noonan, theorbo; and Gary Miller, harpsichord.
Also featured in the concert is guest baroque violinist, Lorraine Glass-Harris, a member of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra since 1972. With interests in both modern and baroque violin, she has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the Midwest.
