Southeast Baroque Trio to Kick off 2006-2007 Music Season with Concert Sept. 14


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 28, 2006 — The Southeast Baroque Ensemble will perform a concert of music at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in the historic Old St. Vincent’s Church in downtown Cape Girardeau.

The program, which is open to the public, will consist of music by such celebrated Baroque composers as Johann Sebastian Bach and Telemann, as well as lesser known composers from the same era.

The Southeast Baroque Ensemble is a faculty performing ensemble based at Southeast Missouri State University.  It is dedicated to the performance of chamber music from the Baroque period on musical instruments from that era. This ensemble has appeared on numerous concert series, including performances at the Sheldon Concert Hall (St. Louis), on the Cedarhurst (Ill.) Chamber Music Series, the Illinois State, Murray State, and East Tennessee State University Concert Series, and at many other venues throughout the Midwest.  It was a featured ensemble at the International Baroque Festival in Jackson, Miss.

The ensemble performs throughout Missouri under the auspices of the Missouri Arts Council Touring Program.  Faculty members of the ensemble are Paul Thompson, Baroque flute Brandon Christensen, Baroque violin; Sara Edgerton, Baroque cello, and Gary Miller, harpsichord.
