CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 5, 2003 — The Southeast Baroque Trio at Southeast Missouri State University will perform a concert Sept. 18 as part of the new Faculty Showcase Series this year presented by the Southeast Department of Music.
The concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Old St. Vincent’s Church.
Members of the Southeast Baroque Trio are Paul Thompson, instructor of music, on flute; Dr. Sara Edgerton, associate professor of music, on cello; and Dr. Gary Miller, chair of the Southeast Department of Music, on harpsichord. The trio is dedicated to the performance of chamber music from the Baroque period on musical instruments from that era.
The walls of historic Old St. Vincent’s Church will resound with the music of these restored or replicated antique instruments. Those who attend will hear the music of Bach, Vivaldi, Handel and other Baroque master composers performed with the sonorities and crisp articulations of the 18th century.
Tickets will be sold in advance and are $7 for the general public; $6 for faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $5 for Southeast students who present an ID. All tickets will be $7 at the door. Call (573) 651-2265 for tickets.
