Southeast Board of Regents Participating in Strategic Planning Workshop

Board of RegentsCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 18, 2013 – The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents will convene at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb.20, in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center at the River Campus in a strategic planning session to be led by Dr. William Weary of Fieldstone Consulting. More than 60 members of the University community have been invited to review with members of the Board the vision of the institution, an environmental scan, the University’s performance, obstacles, and to develop a planning guide for use over the next three to five years.

Additionally, the meeting will include the swearing-in ceremony for Jay B. Knudtson, the newest member of the Board of Regents. Knudtson will be sworn in at 12:30 p.m. by the Honorable Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr.

The strategic planning session will be followed by a Feb. 21 meeting of the Board of Regents scheduled for 8 a.m., River Campus Seminary Conference Room 305, at which time the Board will go into a closed session for appropriate considerations.

The open session is expected to reconvene at 9 a.m. in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center with an announcement of action taken during the closed session. Dr. Weary will then present a strategic planning report.

The Board also will hear a proposal to set the incidental fee rate equal to the in-state rate for all non-Missouri resident veterans and their spouses and dependents effective with the fall 2013 semester.

The Regents also will consider issuing System Facilities Revenue Refunding and Improvement Bonds Series 2013. Proceeds would be used to refund Series 2006A (which financed construction of the Student Aquatic Center) and Series 2008 bonds (which funded construction of Merick Hall and the purchase and renovation of Henderson Hall). Proceeds also would finance construction of a project that will expand instructional space and provide a housing option at the River Campus.
