Southeast Faculty Artwork Featured in New York Exhibit

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 28, 2011ᾰSarah Riley, Interim Chair of the Department of Art at Southeast Missouri State University, is a featured artist at the Viridian Artists and Affiliates Exhibition in New York City.

The exhibit opened March 22 and runs through April 2.

“This is an opportunity to show one’s work in an international venue,” Riley said.  “As a mature artist, the reward is being recognized for many years of devotion to the practice of art-making.”

Riley and five other artists were given 10 feet of linear space to showcase their recent work.  Riley’s artwork mixes media and a combination of techniques including drawing, collage, printmaking and paint.  Much of her art contains feminist overtones through visions of autobiography and moments in the life of an artist.
