CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 29, 2006ᾰDr. Peter Gordon, professor in the Department of Management and Marketing at Southeast Missouri State University, recently received the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators and Federation of Business Disciplines’ (FBD) Educator of the Year award.
“It’s very humbling, yet exciting, to receive this award,” said Gordon. “It’s always nice to be recognized for the hard work and dedication you provide to your students, the University and your department.”
The award is offered every year to outstanding professors teaching business administration disciplines. Candidates must submit their current vita for evaluation to a committee. The committee then measures candidates’ professional service, research and teaching capabilities.
“I think what set us apart from other institutions is the focus we place on international research and experiential learning,” said Gordon. “The fact that I emphasize experiential learning opportunities outside of a normal classroom setting makes us a little more unique than everyone else.” Gordon is the director of International Business Program at Southeast. As director, he takes groups of students on international study tours. Now in its 18th year, the International Business Program offers study tours in January, March, May and June to Europe. Gordon is also involved in developing exchange opportunities for Southeast students to spend a semester studying in several different countries in Europe and Mexico.
