CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 15, 2016 – Southeast Missouri State University will host FAFSA Frenzy for high school seniors and their families from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, in Dempster Hall on Southeast’s main campus at the corner of New Madrid and Henderson streets in Cape Girardeau.
FAFSA Frenzy, a program of College Goal Sunday, is a free statewide event in which 10 financial aid professionals will be on hand to assist students and parents with completing the 2016-2017 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online and to answer questions about the application process. All students planning to attend college in fall 2016, regardless of the institution, are eligible to participate and will have their names submitted for a state-wide scholarship drawing.
Those planning to attend should bring a copy of their 2015 W-2 forms and copies of their 2015 tax forms, if they are ready. If students and their parents have not yet filed their 2015 returns before they attend, they should bring any statements of interest earned in 2015, any 1099 forms and any other forms required to complete their taxes. This will allow students and their parents to submit their FAFSA online during the event. They will then need to go back to the FAFSA and submit corrections once their tax returns are filed.
FAFSA Frenzy is offered in Missouri through partnerships between the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) with the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel (MASFAP), the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (MOHELA), and USA Funds.
In case of inclement weather, FAFSA Frenzy will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7.
