Southeast Music Majors Compete at State Convention


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 14, 2003 — Eleven music majors from Southeast Missouri State University competed at the state convention of the Missouri Music Teachers Association in Kansas City, Kan., Oct. 30-Nov. 1.

Many other universities were represented at the convention, including Southwest Missouri State University, University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, Central Missouri State University, Truman State University, University of Missouri-Columbia, and Missouri Western State College.

Southeast students who attended the event were Amelie Morgan, Matt Palisch, Bobby Abernathy, and Patrick Rafferty, all of Jackson, Mo.; Michelle Thuy Ha and Christine VanNostrand, both of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Monica Smith of St. Charles, Mo.; Emily Grannemann of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; John Mazar of Fenton, Mo.; Gabriel Deutsch of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Carrie Womack of Perryville, Mo.

Southeast won state honors in several categories.  Winners are as follows:
