Southeast Public Radio to Broadcast Variety of Holiday Specials in December


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Dec. 10, 2004ᾰKRCU 90.9 FM announces plans to air a special collection of sacred and secular programs for the holidays.  These specials will begin airing Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. with a Hanukkah special.

“This is a always an exciting time of year,” says General Manager Dan Woods, “and our holiday broadcasts will definitely add to the excitement.  We’re offering a ranger of programs, from sacred music to classical concerts to radio drama.  Our listeners will delight in the programs all season long.”

The feature programs will be mixed with KRCU’s regular selection of holiday music on it’s locally produced programs, Caffè Concerto, Afternoon Classics, Night Music, Broadway Melodies, Themes Familiar, Your Folk Connection and A Musical Meander. 

This year’s special holiday broadcasts include a special Hanukkah piece, A Great Miracle Happened There, a Kwanzaa special, A Season’s Griot 2004: The Trickster and a radio drama titled “KRCU’s A Christmas Carol.” 

The holiday broadcasts will also include an array of Christmas classical and seasonal selections, including A Candlelight Christmas, Christmas with the Philadelphia Singers, Robert Page Holiday Favorites, Christmas from Washington with the Choral Arts Society, Music of the Baroque Christmas Special, The Christmas Revels: A Celebration of the Winter Solstice 2004, The Downtown Messiah 2004, Jazz at the Lincoln Center Holiday Stomp and American Routes Holiday Special.
