Southeast Student Awarded MCA Scholarship for Spring 2009



Dec. 11, 2008 – Brent Trankler, a Southeast Missouri State University senior from Oran, Mo., has been awarded a Missouri Concrete Association (MCA) scholarship for the spring 2009 semester.  

The Missouri Concrete Association (MCA) Scholarship program provided the scholarship in the amount of $500 to Southeast Missouri State and the School of Polytechnic Studies to be awarded to a college student seeking a degree in an area of study relating to careers in the “ready mixed concrete and related industries.”

To be eligible, students should be sophomore status or higher (30 or more hours completed) and be seeking a degree in an area of study that would benefit his or her success in a potential career in the ready mixed concrete or related industries. Trankler wrote a letter to the Southeast MCA Scholarship Committee explaining why he should receive the $500 MCA scholarship and how his potential career field relates to the ready mixed concrete or related industries.  The letter also explains how the scholarship will help him obtain his career goals (financial need, etc).

Trankler is an industrial technology major, with an emphasis in construction management and design. He holds a 3.1 grade point average (GPA), with a 4.0 GPA in his construction-related classes. With the award, Trankler receives a $500 scholarship.
