Southeast Student Awarded Missouri Landscape and Nursery Association Scholarship


morganmcadamsCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 15, 2014 — The Missouri Landscape and Nursery Association (MLNA) presented their $1,000 college scholarship to a Southeast Missouri State University student during their 124th WESTERN Trade Show and Education event in Overland Park, Kan.

The recipient of the scholarship is Morgan McAdams of Arcadia, Mo., a junior majoring in agribusiness, horticulture option. McAdams received the award at the event Jan. 5.

McAdams was part of a group of eight students from Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Agriculture attending the WESTERN with Dr. Sven Svenson, associate professor of agribusiness: horticulture.

This scholarship is awarded on the basis of high character, leadership, excellence in studies and need. The scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in a two- or four-year Missouri college. Applicants must be actively seeking employment in the nursery industry after graduation, current residents of Missouri and must have successfully completed at least one quarter of their studies.

Members of the MLNA Scholarship Committee are Bryan Stringer, committee leader, BWI Supply, Springfield, Mo.; Alice Longfellow, Longfellow’s Garden Center, Centertown, Mo.; Monica Barker, Barker Horticulture Services, Clarksville, Mo.; and Roland Lenzenhuber, Forest Lawn Nursery, Jonesburg, Mo.
