Southeast Student Places at Missouri Annual Farm Bureau Conference


FarmCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 29, 2013 – A Southeast Missouri State University agribusiness major placed third at the state level at the Missouri Annual Farm Bureau Conference in December in Lake Ozark, Mo.

Mason Johanning of Sullivan, Mo., took third in the Discussion Meet among eight collegiate Farm Bureau chapters competing. Johanning earned a $100 scholarship for his efforts.

“This is only Southeast’s second time to participate, and we are very proud of him,” said Dr. Julie Weathers, assistant professor of agriculture at Southeast.

Johanning competed at the state level after winning Southeast’s Collegiate Discussion Meet in Cape Girardeau.

Southeast’s Collegiate Farm Bureau officers Dennis Kinkead of Farmington, Mo., Lora Tindall of Red Bud, Ill., Zach Drillingas of Cedar Hill, Mo., and Rebecca Blass of House Springs, Mo., along with Southeast Collegiate Discussion Meet runner-up Ethan Hochstein of Springfield, Ill., also attended the state conference at Tan-Tar-A.
