Southeast Missouri State University dance students will perform in The Conservatory of Theatre and Dance’s inaugural event “Southeast Dance Project,” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10-11 in the Rust Flexible Theatre at Southeast’s River Campus.
The performance is a new addition to The Conservatory’s productions and will offer another look into the talents of the dance program and its students.
“This is the first time the University will have a second stage dance production with individual dance pieces selected by the faculty with top junior and senior level majors,” said Dr. Kenneth Stilson, chair of The Conservatory of Theatre and Dance. “We are very excited to present eight to 10 students who will be choreographing an eclectic concert for the audience.”
Featuring student choreography, this program will reveal the work of emerging artists and highlight the talent of the dancers. Student dance artists step into the spotlight to delight audiences with a variety of moods and styles.
Hilary Peterson, coordinator of dance and associate professor, said, “Our student choreographers are extremely talented and find a way to blend the information they are learning at Southeast with their own original ideas to create really nice choreography.”
