Southeast Students Raised More Than $20,000 for St. Jude’s

April 6, 2009 – A Southeast Missouri State University student organization, Up til Dawn, has raised more than $20,000 this year for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The effort began last fall when Up til Dawn rallied the support of student organizations on campus, challenging them to raise the most funds to support St. Jude. Members of student organizations participated in a letter writing campaign in which they asked family members and friends to support the effort with monetary donations. More than 1,000 letters were sent.

This year’s top organizations included the Southeast Pre-Med Club, the Gamma Gamma Sigma sorority and the Tri-Sigma sorority. These organizations recently were recognized at a “Finale” held March 27 and hosted by the Up til Dawn Executive Board.

Other organizations participating in this year’s campaign were: the third and ninth floors of Towers North and West, Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Phi Omega, Colleen’s Friends, Colleges Against Cancer, Commrades, Gamma Sigma Sigma, Gryffindor, Lambda Chi Alpha, Pineapple, Residence Hall Association, Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, Tri-Sigma, Southeast Pre-Med Club/AED, Spanish Club, Sundancers, The Fun Raisers, Unity First Council and the Up til Dawn Executive Board.
