Southeast/Cape West Rotary Club Golf Tournament Raises $92,000


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 6, 2010 – The annual Southeast Missouri State University and Cape West Rotary Club Golf Tournament raised $92,000 this year for student scholarships.

The tournament was held June 7 at Dalhousie Golf Club. The funds raised are awarded to working students attending Southeast Missouri State University. The funds are distributed as scholarships, awarded to students with financial need attending Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau or one of its regional campuses in Kennett, Malden, Perryville, or Sikeston, Mo. Over the past several years, over 200 students have received scholarships from Cape West Rotary. The program has been awarding scholarships to students since 2001.

“Cape West Rotary was very proud to present President Dobbins a check for $92,000 representing the 2010 golf proceeds.

The proceeds will be given to students with financial need the fall 2010 and spring 2011 semesters,” said Jill Glenzy of the Cape West Rotary Club.

The scholarship money was presented to Southeast Missouri State University President Kenneth Dobbins on Aug. 4 by Rotary Club members and university alumni Scott Haney ’03, Jeff Hotop ’04, Rick Ebaugh ‘73, Steve Schneider ’78, Jill Glenzy ’97, and Rotary Club member Rick Kennard, and current Rotary Club President Linda Puchbauer.
