CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 19, 2007 — The Southeast Missouri State University Judo Sport Club will host its annual SEMO Judo Club Tournament on Saturday, March 31.
Youth divisions will begin at 10 a.m. at the Student Recreation Center – North, 750 New Madrid, just west of the Show Me Center.
The club is expecting more than 100 judo competitors, ages 7 and up, to compete from all around the Midwest representing six states. Four countries also will be represented.
Kudokan Judo is an activity that began in Japan in 1882. It is an Olympic sport with participants and organizations in almost every country in the world.
About 15 Southeast students will compete in the tournament. The SEMO Judo Club practices two to three times a week at the Student Recreation Center–South with their 25 members. The event is free, and all students and community members are encouraged to attend.
