CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 4, 2014 – Southeast Missouri State University’s online undergraduate programs in business and nursing have been recognized among the nation’s best value online degrees by OnlineU.org, and Southeast’s RN to BSN completion program has been ranked among the top online undergraduate nursing degrees by SuperScholar.org.
OnlineU.org ranked Southeast’s online Bachelor of Science in Nursing 15th and its online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) 25th. At the same time, SuperScholar.org has ranked Southeast’s online RN to BSN program 15th in the nation.
“Southeast faculty have put in a lot of work developing online courses and programs that are academically rigorous, yet at the same time accessible and affordable for a wide range of students,” said Dr. Allen Gathman, associate dean for online learning.
Dr. Gloria Green, chair of the Department of Nursing at Southeast, added, “Southeast’s effective marketing strategies, flexibility for scheduling, and highly qualified faculty have propelled the RN to BSN program to this level of national recognition, and deservedly so.”
Dr. Gerald McDougall, dean of the Donald L. Harrison College of Business and associate provost for online and extended learning at Southeast, underscored OnlineU.org’s recognition of Southeast’s online BSBA.
“The Harrison business faculty possesses outstanding credentials and demonstrates a commitment to student success whether a student is in our traditional undergraduate business program or our online program,” McDougall said. “It is satisfying to have an external validation of high quality such as the rankings published by OnlineU.org. Our long history with online delivery opens educational opportunities for so many talented individuals who otherwise would not be able to complete an undergraduate business degree.”
OnlineU’s mission is to refocus the higher education conversation around affordability and quality and make access to online college information more transparent. OnlineU.org completed extensive research into the cost of attending different online colleges and then analyzed the outcome-based statistics to find the best value online colleges.
“With the average price of college skyrocketing forcing many students to rely on student loans to fund their education, we were impressed with Southeast Missouri State University and their ability to continue to offer quality degrees at a reasonable price,” said Kimberly Wetter with OnlineU’s SR Education Group.
Super Scholar’s Smart Choice rankings of online undergraduate nursing schools is designed to help current and future nurses make a smart choice about where to begin or continue their nursing education.
In compiling its Smart Choice rankings of the best online undergraduate nursing programs, Super Scholar only considered online nursing schools that are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) to ensure that all online programs have met the highest standards of recognized institutional accreditation. The nursing schools that met this initial accreditation criterion were then evaluated based on reputation, selection, quality, student satisfaction and affordability. Southeast’s RN to BSN completion program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
