CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 11, 2013 – Russell Nelson, who was selected to be the juror for this year’s annual “Juried Student Exhibition,” will have a solo exhibit of his work on display Feb. 25 through April 3 in the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus Art Gallery.
An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. March 1 in the gallery. Nelson will lecture about his work from noon to 1 p.m. April 3 in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center.
Nelson is an associate professor of visual communications and the Art Department Chair at Truman State University. His career spans the areas of advertising, publication design, corporate identity, billboard and signage design, and illustration. His illustrations have been published in regional and national publications.
“Each year a different area head in the Department of Art selects the juror for the Juried Student Exhibition. This year, we are excited to welcome a graphic designer and illustrator that was selected by our own graphic design and illustration professor, Louise Bodenheimer,” says Kristin Powers Nowlin, Gallery coordinator.
Nelson holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from Fort Hays State University and a Master of Fine Arts in visual communications from Kansas State University.
The River Campus Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building in Room 106.
