Student art works from Southeast Missouri State University’s Art Academy’s Art Reach and Painting with the Elderly workshops will be on display Aug. 7-27 at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri’s new location at 16 North Spanish Street.
An opening reception will be held on First Friday, Aug. 5, from 5- 9 p.m.
The opening and pick up for the Art Academy’s Children’s Ceramic and Young Potters’ Exhibit is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the University’s Ceramic Studio, 835 Broadway. The public is invited to attend.
The Art Academy summer workshops are engaging and creative experiences in a wide variety of media for ages 6- adult held in Southeast’s Department of Art studios. Art Reach sessions are afterschool art programs designed to enrich underserved students ages 6-15, and Painting with the Elderly are exploratory workshops held in area retirement centers.
About 230 students participated in this year’s workshops. The exhibits will include student work in ceramics, drawing, mixed media sculptures, printmaking, collages, paintings, computer graphics and animation.
