CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 22, 2015 – The Tau Kappa Epsilon, Delta Zeta Chapter Alumni Memorial Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
Alumni of the Delta Zeta Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon made gifts totaling over $5,000 which were matched $1-for-$1 through a University matching gift program to establish the scholarship.
The matching gift program was part of the Honoring Tradition – Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. This program allowed donors to make a minimum commitment of $5,000 to a maximum commitment of $10,000 through donation or pledge by March 1, 2014, that qualified for the match.
The recipient of the renewable Tau Kappa Epsilon and Delta Zeta Chapter Alumni Memorial Scholarship will be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University who has completed at least 30 credit hours and has a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The recipient must possess leadership qualities that set them apart from his or her peers. Also, the recipient needs to be goal-oriented and committed to the service of their community. First preference will be given to a Tau Kappa Epsilon member or child of a Tau Kappa Epsilon alumnus. The University Scholarship Committee in conjunction with the director of Greek Life will select the recipient.
Tau Kappa Epsilon is a national fraternity with 270 active chapters and colonies located throughout the United States and Canada. It was founded in 1899 in Bloomington, Illinois, and has initiated 260,000 men. It is the largest social fraternity in the world.
