Jan. 20, 2010 – Southeast Missouri State University’s third annual Walk for Women’s Athletics will take place Saturday, May 1, beginning at Houck Field House.

With the event only a few months away, prospective participants are encouraged to form teams now.

Cindy Knudtson, wife of Cape Girardeau Mayor Jay Knudtson, is chairperson for the event which supports Southeast’s women’s athletics scholarship fund.  The Walk has greatly benefitted the program in the previous two years, and Knudtson and Walk for Women Director Cindy Gannon hope this year’s event will surpass them.

“Your contribution will not only enhance educational opportunities for our female student-athletesᾰyou will promote leadership, discipline and teamwork for the development of our leaders of tomorrow,” Gannon said.

There are no limits on team size, but each must have a captain.  Each participant is asked to raise a minimum of $25.  For those not affiliated with a team, the Southeast Athletics Department is open for all Walk participants.

Registration forms will soon be available and will provide Walk for Women participants with collection donation forms and sponsor sheets.

More information can be found by visiting and clicking on the Walk for Women tab or by calling the Southeast Women’s Walk office at (573) 651-2997.
