CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 22, 2006 — Dancers of all experience levels are invited to audition for the new Southeast Dance Ensemble, as well as for the Fall Dance Concert, at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 in the Parker Dance Studio.
Those auditioning should dress in form-fitting dance attire and wear appropriate dance shoes or may have bare feet.
The new (untitled) Southeast Dance Ensemble will be performing throughout southeast Missouri at festivals, schools, community centers and special events. The ensemble will work with nationally recognized guest artists and travel to and perform at the regional American College Dance Festival Association conference. These students also will be heavily involved with the Department of Theatre and Dance’s high school recruitment program and workshops.
The Fall Dance Concert is scheduled for Nov. 10-11 and Nov. 17-18 in the Rose Theatre and will feature pieces choreographed by Southeast dance faculty as well as two nationally recognized guest choreographers. The annual Fall Dance Concert is, year by year, becoming one of Southeast’s most well-attended and popular events. With dance styles ranging from tap to jazz to ballet to hip hop to traditional and cultural dance, each piece is its own entity and audiences are transported with each number.
