CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 12, 2013 – The Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University will hold an open house at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Wendy Kurka Rust Flexible Theatre at Southeast’s River Campus so new students can meet current faculty and staff.
New theatre and dance students, both those majoring and minoring in the department, and those interested in theatre and dance will be able to learn more about how to audition for a production at Southeast and also will receive a mentor at the event.
There will also be networking opportunities for new students as well as refreshments.
“The Theatre & Dance Open House on Aug. 26 is a chance for new and returning students to mingle and get ready for a new year of study and performing,” said Dr. Phil Nacy, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance. “It’s a laid-back department-wide ‘welcome’ for the students and faculty. Department news and announcements will be made about upcoming auditions and special events, master classes and production information. It’s a chance for the new theatre and dance students to meet the faculty and upper-class students and for returning students to get reacquainted after the summer break.”
The open house is sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Dance in conjunction with the Office of Student Transitions.
