The Centers for Academic Advising are excited to announce workshop dates for the new Master Advisor Program. Two sessions will be offered this winter break, one on Dec. 20, 2016, and another on Jan. 10, 2017. The Master Advisor Program has been created to improve the quality of academic advising for Southeast students by providing faculty and professional staff advisors with appropriate training, professional development, evaluation and recognition. The program is designed to create a core of highly skilled academic advisors who provide high quality advising to undergraduate students. Upon completion of the program, participants will be equipped with a variety of resources to serve as advising leaders in their home departments.
You are being invited to sign up at for either the Dec. 20 or Jan. 10 workshop at http://semo.edu/advising/masteradvisor.html. This website also gives an overview of the Master Advisor Program. Each session will be capped at 25 faculty per session.
These first workshops will be full day events, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the University Center Redhawks Room. The length of future workshops may change in format length after receiving feedback from participants this December and January. If these first two workshop offerings do not work with your schedule, additional workshops will be offered this spring.
Thank you for the support you have given our effort to increase advising knowledge at Southeast. We hope to see you in December or January.
