University Planning London Performing Arts Tour


Public invited to Oct. 11 meeting

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 1, 2004 — The Performing Arts Travel Experience: London 2005, a 10-day/eight-night study tour of London’s performing arts, is being sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University Dec. 26 to Jan. 4 and will feature “the Holiday Season in Merry Olde England.”

An organizational and informational meeting for the trip will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 11 in the Grauel Building, (corner of Normal and Pacific streets) in Room 316. The trip is open to University students, staff and faculty as well as members of the Southeast Missouri community.

The proposed itinerary will include roundtrip airfare from St. Louis to London, roundtrip hotel transfers, breakfast each morning, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and Exhibition, a seven-day underground (tube) pass, admissions to theatrical and historical sights, half-day London sightseeing, day trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon, and two performing arts events. There will also be free days reserved for individual sightseeing, day trips, shopping and additional performing arts performances. The inclusive price (land and air package) will be $1,895.

The tour is being arranged by Dennis Seyer, professor of theatre and dance at Southeast.  He is theatre director and scenic designer for the department’s productions held in the Forrest H. Rose Theatre.  He has led performing arts tours to New York for more than 30 years as well as previous tours to London, Germany, Ireland and Italy. Seyer, as part of two different international educational programs, has taught in London during the spring of 1992 and the fall of 2000.
