CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., July 1, 2005ᾰThe US Bank of Bollinger County has established a $1,000 restricted scholarship through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

“The US Bank of Bollinger County created this scholarship to show its support to the surrounding communities,” stated Paul Belvin, branch manager.  “The bank also hopes that it will help promote the value of education among our youth.”

The first recipient for fall 2005 is Tyler Elfrink, a graduate of Leopold High School.  While in high school, Elfrink was actively involved in basketball, the Beta club, pep club and the business club.  He also was recognized in Who’s Who Among High School Students and showcased in the Who’s Who sports edition.  Elfrink plans to major in secondary English education at Southeast.

The US Bank of Bollinger County Scholarship is awarded to an incoming Southeast freshman who has graduated from one of four Bollinger County high schools.  To qualify, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.  This level of achievement must be maintained to be eligible to reapply for the scholarship.
