Veterans Plaza Memorial Scholarship Established at Southeast

The Veterans Plaza Memorial Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

The scholarship was made possible due to generous donations and from the purchase of the commemorative engraved bricks at Southeast’s Veterans Plaza honoring the military service of Southeast alumni, friends, family members and others.

The renewable scholarship will be awarded to a student with financial need. First preference will go to a military veteran of any U.S. branch of armed forces. Second preference will go to an active U.S. military personnel. Third preference will go to the spouse of a U.S. military veteran or active U.S. military personnel. Fourth preference will go to a first-generation child of a U.S. military veteran. Southeast’s Office of Military and Veterans Services, in conjunction with Thomas M. Meyer, will select the recipient.

Dedicated on September 25, 2020 on Southeast’s campus between Academic Hall and Memorial Hall, the Veterans Plaza stands as a physical reminder of the University’s gratitude for veterans of all eras. The Plaza consists of a central stone and plaque honoring past, present and future military members, and the commemorative engraved bricks. The U.S. flag, POW/MIA flag, the Missouri state flag, and flags representing the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Space Force are displayed.
