Wind Symphony, Marching Band Performing ‘The Holidays: Music for the Season’

windsymphonyThe Holidays: Music for the Season will showcase the sounds of the season in a program performed by the Southeast Missouri State University Wind Symphony and Marching Band Dec. 6 at Southeast’s River Campus.

The concert is slated for 7:30 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.

“We invite the University community and those in our area to come join us for a unique opportunity to enjoy the holiday season in a festive way,” said Martin Reynolds, associate professor of music and director of bands and music education at Southeast.  “The combined efforts of the students in the Wind Symphony and Marching Band will make this a special evening for those in attendance.”

The Marching Band, under the direction of Reynolds, will play some material from their fall football season, and the Southeast Wind Symphony will play some traditional holiday and Hanukkah tunes and the famous “Sleigh Ride.”

The groups combined will also perform additional holiday tunes, including “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” “Silver Bells,” “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” among others.

“The program will feature a little something for everyone,” Reynolds said.  “Everyone is invited to celebrate the season with these talented students.”
