CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 15, 2005 — The Southeast Wind symphony at Southeast Missouri State University will perform its popular annual Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. April 28 in the University Center Ballroom.
Under the direction of Barry Bernhardt, the Southeast Wind Symphony is the premier wind and percussion ensemble on campus. This 55- to 65-member ensemble performs only the highest level of wind literature, including standard wind band literature and the newest of contemporary literature.
The Wind Symphony previously has performed at the Missouri Music Educators Association Conference, the College Band Directors National Association Conference and the Music Educators Nation Conference. The Wind Symphony also has performed many U.S. and world “premiers” of new literature for wind band by some of the World’s finest composers.
Also called the “Olde Tyme Band Concert,” the annual Pops program features lighter than usual fare. Tickets are $7 for the public, $6 for Southeast faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $5 for students.
