CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 8, 2011 — The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Recreation Services has named Corey Zinkl of St. Louis, Mo., as employee of the month for February.
Zinkl, a criminal justice major at Southeast, was named for his duties in assisting the intramural sports department and for his work preparing the outdoor fields for play this spring. Zinkl has been instrumental in preparations for outdoor fields and is always willing to pitch in and help when needed, according to Troy Vaughn, director of Recreation Services.
“Corey exemplifies what it is to be in a student leadership role within our department,” Vaughn said.
The Employee of the Month award is given monthly to deserving undergraduate students who excel in their performance on the job. The Recreation Services Student Employee of the Month is the highest achievement award given to a Recreation Services student employee for going “above and beyond” the normal call of duty to assist the program, patrons and users of the recreational facilities.
Zinkl’s career aspirations include working for the St. Louis Police Department and becoming a homicide detective.
